Stump Grinding & Tree Removal in the NC Piedmont Triad
Drop the hazard trees, grind the stumps flush and take back the yard, pasture or building pad they were blocking.
Serving Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem & the NC Piedmont Triad
Finish What the Tree Started
Leaning pines, dead hardwoods and hollow oaks are only a problem until the next big Piedmont storm. Old stumps and root balls are a different kind of problem: they wreck mowers, block grading and leave your property looking half-finished.
We combine tree removal and stump grinding into a single, coordinated service for homeowners and landowners across the Triad, so the yard or pasture is actually ready to use when we leave.
What You Get With KNS LandWorx

Why Removing the Tree Is Only Half the Job
A cut-off stump left in the ground rots for years, sinks unevenly, sends up suckers, attracts termites and stops you from grading, building or fully mowing that spot. Grinding the stump flush closes the job out properly.
Doing tree removal and stump work together is faster, cheaper and less disruptive than bringing two separate crews and two setups back to the same property.
Our Process
A straightforward path from overgrown or unusable land to a finished job you can be proud of.
- 1
Assess the Tree
We look at species, lean, decay, targets and surroundings, then plan the drop or piece-out that keeps your property, fences and structures safe.
- 2
Controlled Removal
Trees are dropped whole where space allows or worked down in sections near buildings, fences and utilities.
- 3
Grind the Stumps
Stumps get ground several inches below grade so the area can be mowed, graded, seeded or built over without issues.
- 4
Clean and Restore
Chips and debris get chipped, mulched or hauled based on your preference, and disturbed ground is smoothed out for the next step.
Ideal For Piedmont Triad Homeowners Who Need
- Storm-damaged, leaning or clearly dead trees
- Old stumps left from previous clearing or logging
- Trees crowding foundations, driveways and outbuildings
- Yard restoration after a bad winter or hurricane season
- Pasture and food plot expansion
- Building pad prep where trees and stumps are in the way

Oak, hickory, maple and sweetgum are hardwood. Pine and cedar are softwood. Hardwood grinds slower, so it prices higher.
2. Grind depth and distance
Recommended anywhere you plan to seed, sod or replant. Turn off for mulch beds and rough ground.
Rounded up to the nearest 10 miles. Not sure? Leave the default and we will confirm it on the walk-through.
3. Chips and backfill
Requires chips to be piled or hauled off first.
Quoted separately after the walk-through
- Extensive root systems spreading more than twice the stump diameter
- Hand work beyond standard cleanup, billed at $115 per hour
- Difficult machine access or lawn preservation requirements
- Stumps standing more than 12" above grade
This is an estimate based on what you entered. We verify stump sizes and ask for photos before scheduling, so the price can change if the details differ. The mobilization charge (base plus mileage) is non-refundable once the crew is dispatched.

Getting the crew and machine there
- Base charge
- $100
- Travel to your property
- $2 per mile
- Job minimum
- $225
Mileage is rounded up to the nearest 10 miles. Small jobs land at the $225 minimum, which is why grouping stumps into one visit is almost always cheaper than calling us back twice.
Chips, backfill and extras
- Spread chips around the area
- Included
- Relocate chips to a pile on the property
- from $25
- Haul chips off site
- from $225
- Bring in dirt to fill holes and grade
- from $225
Chip and backfill add-ons scale with the volume the grinding produces, so the estimator prices them against your actual stump list. Dirt fill requires the chips to be moved or hauled first.

Prices are estimates based on the information provided. We verify stump sizes on site and ask for photos before scheduling. If the details change, the price may change, and the mobilization charge (base plus mileage) is non-refundable once the crew is dispatched.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you handle very large or dangerous trees?
Yes. Trees that require rigging or drop planning near structures are handled with the right equipment. Truly extreme, climbing-intensive removals are coordinated with a certified arborist partner.
How deep do you grind the stumps?
Typically 4 to 8 inches below grade, deeper on request. That is enough to mow over, seed or grade without hitting the stump later.
Do you have to haul the debris away?
Not always. We can chip, mulch on site, stack for firewood or fully haul off, whichever works best for you and the property.
Can you combine this with grading or clearing?
Yes. Bundling tree removal, stump grinding and any needed grading or seeding is what makes a finished-looking job possible in a single mobilization.
Where do you provide tree removal and stump grinding?
Across the NC Piedmont Triad including Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, Kernersville, Jamestown, Oak Ridge, Summerfield, Stokesdale, Colfax, Burlington, Lexington, Thomasville, Reidsville and Asheboro.
