Building Pad Preparation & Driveway Grading for NC Homes
A solid home, shop or barn starts with a properly built pad, and a great property starts with a driveway that drains, holds up and looks right. We build both across Greensboro, High Point and the surrounding Piedmont Triad.
Serving Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem & the NC Piedmont Triad
Pads and Driveways Built to Last
Whether you're planning a new home, adding a garage or shop, or finally fixing a driveway that washes out every storm, the ground under it matters more than most homeowners realize. Poor compaction leads to cracked slabs. Poor grading leads to ruts, potholes and water pooling where it shouldn't.
KNS LandWorx prepares building pads and grades residential driveways with proper compaction, crown, base material and drainage so what you build on top of them holds up for the long haul.
What You Get With KNS LandWorx

Grading Is Where Every Good Project Starts
Piedmont Triad clay soil holds water, shifts with the seasons and punishes shortcuts. A pad or driveway that isn't cut, filled and compacted correctly will show it in a year or two, and fixing it later costs more than doing it right the first time.
We size the base, set the grade and place the material so your home, driveway or outbuilding stays stable and drains the way it should through every North Carolina thunderstorm.
Our Process
A straightforward path from overgrown or unusable land to a finished job you can be proud of.
- 1
Site Walk & Layout
We review your plans, stake the pad or driveway, and flag utilities, trees and drainage patterns.
- 2
Cut, Fill & Shape
We move earth to bring the site to the right elevation with the right slope for water and access.
- 3
Compaction & Base
Sub-base is compacted in lifts and topped with the right gravel or base material for the load it will carry.
- 4
Final Grade & Cleanup
We finish the surface, install culverts and clean up so the site is ready for concrete, framers or daily driving.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to prep a building pad?
Most residential pads take one to three days depending on size, cut and fill volume, and site access. We can usually schedule the pad the same week as your quote is approved.
Can you install a new gravel driveway?
Yes. We build new gravel driveways from scratch, including clearing, grading, culverts and base rock. We can also reshape and re-gravel a driveway that has failed.
Do you install driveway culverts?
Yes. We size and install culverts and driveway pipes so water flows through your driveway rather than across or under it.
What kind of gravel do you use?
We spec the base and surface material based on your soil, slope and how you'll use the driveway. Options range from ABC stone base to #57 or #78 surface gravel.
Will a graded driveway still wash out in heavy rain?
A properly crowned, ditched and gravel-topped driveway sheds water instead of channeling it. Combined with culverts where needed, it dramatically reduces washouts even in NC downpours.
Do you work in Winston-Salem and Greensboro suburbs?
Yes. We regularly grade pads and driveways in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Kernersville, Oak Ridge, Summerfield and surrounding rural areas of the Piedmont Triad.
